EAP Corner

EAP services are different than managed care services. Many members accessing EAP services are not looking for and are not in need of psychotherapy. Clients use EAP services for substance abuse assessment, family and relationship issues, stress related issues, grief reaction and a variety of every day concerns. The primary focus of the EAP service is to provide assessment and referral to appropriate services or treatment resources outside the EAP if needed. Therefore, EAP services require a specific skill set of the practitioner, emphasizing comprehensive assessment, short-term problem resolution and facilitation of referral to appropriate treatment resources.
